Hannah Kaplan is a dedicated nonprofit professional with a strong background in data analysis, program management, and community outreach. As Grants Manager, Hannah combines her analytical, project management, and community engagement skills to lead the sourcing, engagement, evaluation, and recommendation of potential grantees for JH Philanthropy’s grants management clients.
Prior to joining JH Philanthropy, Hannah advocated for school-aged refugee youth navigating education systems in the Chicagoland area. Her experience at RefugeeOne, the largest resettlement agency in Chicago, involved tracking and analyzing key performance indicators to improve program outcomes for newcomer students and families. She also managed data-driven initiatives to evaluate program effectiveness and impact. At McGaw YMCA, she successfully led programs through strategic planning, safety prioritization, and policy changes. Her proficiency in data analysis, coupled with her commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, ensures that she identifies grantees who align with clients’ missions of fostering meaningful change.
Hannah has a master’s degree in Social Sector Leadership and Nonprofit Management from the University of Chicago and has a BFA in Theatre Arts, a BA in English Literature, and a minor in Philosophy from DePaul University. She has certifications in Advanced Grant Proposal Writing and Mental Health Support for Refugees.
As a food lover and proud Chicagoan, Hannah enjoys exploring the city by eating her way through different neighborhoods. On weekends, she connects with her community by hosting themed dinner parties for family and friends.
