Celebrating Five Years!
This month, JH Philanthropy celebrated its five-year anniversary. Thanks to everyone who came out to celebrate with us this week!
As we mark this significant milestone, we are filled with immense gratitude and pride. JH Philanthropy launched in 2019 on the idea that philanthropists, families, foundations, and corporations all have unique approaches to, desires for, and interests in their philanthropy. We knew that a cookie-cutter approach to social impact wouldn’t work for the caliber of people we hoped to serve and that we had a responsibility to help tap into our clients’ passions and motivations to help catalyze them to impact.
Now, we’re celebrating half a decade of partnerships we’ve developed and clients we’ve worked with on their impact journeys. This has included:
Working with 31 clients and a total of 46 families
Advising on or supporting the movement of over $125M into communities across the country
Launching or revamping 15 family foundations or giving vehicles
Working with The MacArthur Foundation and technology consultants on launching the Philanthropy Data Commons
Launching and now overseeing The Chicago Giving Circle with 17 families
Launching five nonprofits or programs in partnership with our clients, including Hope Chicago, MOD Collective, Vivery, BrightPink’s venture philanthropy fund, and Orlebeke Foundation’s Friends of the Arts.
Providing executive and strategic coaching to numerous foundation CEOs
Today, our team works with 15 active clients and leads grantmaking for seven families and foundations. We don’t take this responsibility lightly and are honored to be a part bringing these important legacies to life and moving capital to communities and movements that you support.
As we reflect on the past five years, we are not just celebrating our achievements, but also looking ahead to the future we will create together. We are inspired by the collective power of our partnerships and are committed to building on this momentum. The next chapter is filled with exciting possibilities, and we are honored to have each of you as partners in this work.
Thank you for being with us on this journey. Here’s to five years of impact, to being the change we want to see, and to championing nonprofit-centered philanthropy. Cheers to the incredible work still ahead!
